Artifacts from the 9/11 terrorist attacks made their way through our area Tuesday as they were being escorted by the U.S. Veterans Motorcycle Club.

After making stops at the Pentagon and Ground Zero, the artifacts were taken to the Flight 93 National Memorial in Somerset County, where they were temporarily put on display during a brief ceremony.

Some of the artifacts included a helmet worn by a Port Authority officer, metal signs from the World Trade Center and a cross that was created from the rubble.

The artifacts were then escorted to the Port Matilda American Legion, in Centre County, to be displayed and another brief ceremony was held.

The motorcycle club says the point of the escort and ceremonies is for people to never forget the terror attacks.

The artifacts were then escorted to South Carolina on Wednesday.
