Child, 8, killed in two-vehicle crash in Indiana County, PSP says

INDIANA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Pennsylvania state police say an 8-year-old child was killed Sunday in a two-vehicle crash in Indiana County.
Troopers say the crash occurred just before 5 p.m. near the intersection of West Philadelphia Street Extension and Route 22 in East Wheatfield Township.
Police say the driver of a Chevrolet SUV, identified as a 62-year-old Armagh woman, was reportedly stopped at a posted stop sign at the intersection and was attempting to turn onto Route 22 westbound.
Investigators say the driver then crossed Route 22 and was struck by a KIA sedan driven by a 21-year-old Homestead woman.
Police say the passenger of the SUV, an 8-year-old girl from New Florence, was killed in the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers say the drivers of both vehicles were transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
State police say the crash investigation is still ongoing.
