DuBois woman charged with DUI for causing crash that seriously injured couple

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Sandy Township Police Department have filed charges against a DuBois woman following an investigation into a two-vehicle crash that took place last September.

According to the affidavit, police were dispatched to the crash, in the area of Mountain Run Road and Route 255, on Sept. 2nd.

Investigators say the driver of a 2005 Jeep Cherokee and the driver and passenger of a 2012 Ford F-150 all suffered injuries in the crash.

Upon further investigation, police learned that the driver of the Jeep, identified as 28-year-old Katie Kilmer, was traveling northbound on Route 255 and attempted to turn onto Mountain Run Road.

Police say, according to witnesses, Kilmer reportedly turned in front of the path of the truck, causing a head-on collision between the two vehicles.

Authorities say witnesses also reported that, prior to the crash , Kilmer was allegedly driving erratically and had even passed two vehicles, including a cement truck, while traveling in the opposite lane.

Police say during the crash investigation, authorities found drugs and drug paraphernalia inside Kilmer's Jeep.

Investigators say she later admitted to using various drugs, including methamphetamine and heroin, and told police that the drugs found in her vehicle belonged to her.

Police say a toxicology report also confirmed the presence of various drugs, including marijuana, methamphetamines, opiates and amphetamines, in Kilmer's system at the time of the crash.

Authorities noted that the couple in the truck both suffered serious injuries in the crash, including multiple broken bones and internal injuries that required surgery.

According to online court records, Kilmer was arraigned Friday on multiple counts of aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, aggravated assault by vehicle, drug use and various traffic citations.

She is being held at the Clearfield County Prison on $25,000 bail.
