Man who attempted to shoot pastor charged with homicide after cousin found dead: police

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. (TND) — A man who attempted to shoot a pastor at a Pennsylvania church has been charged with homicide after his cousin was found shot to death, according to Allegheny County Police Department.
Bernard Junior Polite, 26, was arrested Sunday after allegedly attempting to shoot Pastor Glenn Germany during a live-streamed sermon at Jesus Dwelling Place Church in North Braddock.
Video of the sermon shows Germany speaking as Polite comes into the frame and points a gun at the pastor before church members take action and tackle the suspected shooter.
Pennsylvania State Police said Polite pointed the gun at the pastor and attempted to shoot but the gun failed to discharge.
Shortly after Polite was arrested, 56-year-old Derek Polite was found fatally shot inside the suspect's home, according to authorities.
Witnesses interviewed by police stated they saw Bernard Polite pacing outside the home the morning of the church shooting and a "neighbor reported hearing a noise which could have been a gunshot."
Additionally, after seeing reports of the church shooting, family members went to Derek Polite's home to check on his well-being and found him dead inside, police noted.
A "projectile" recovered from the victim was later discovered to match a firearm recovered by Pennsylvania State Police.
Polite is facing one count of criminal homicide and is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail pending a preliminary arraignment.
