'Sad Papaw' is hosting cookout and everyone's invited

The internet's favorite sad grandpa broke the hearts of thousands with a single photo but this story has a happy ending.

The social media frenzy began after an Oklahoma college student shared a photo of her "Papaw" appearing to be sadly eating a burger.

According to Kelsey Harmon's tweet, she and her five cousins were invited to Papaw's for dinner but she was the only one that showed up.

The tweet quickly spread across social media with nearly 200,000 retweets. Other family members even began to receive death threats from outraged people on Twitter.

The next day one of the grandkids, Brock Harmon tweeted that he did join Papaw for burgers, perhaps after receiving so many comments on social media.

He also noted that Papaw forgives him.

And he later tweeted that Papaw is having a cookout and everyone's invited.
