West Branch Elementary closes due to flood damage
Clearfield, PA — West Branch Elementary School closed Monday morning because of flood damage.
Michelle Dutrow, Superintendent of the West Branch Area School District, said the elementary school flooded overnight.
She said their HVAC system had 2 or 3 dampers that didn't close and due to freezing temperatures overnight, their pipes burst this morning.
Dutrow said there was flooding in 2-3 areas of the elementary school in the hallways.
The middle school or high school wasn't impacted by this flooding and stayed open today.
Dutrow said there wasn't significant damage from the flooding, as the carpets just need to be dried out.
She said a service company is coming to the school tomorrow to make sure all of the equipment is functioning properly.
